We Should End Daylight Saving Time
Daylight saving time is also known as summer time or daylight savings time. In daylight saving time, the clocks are adjusted forward, normally by an hour such that the number of evening hours is increased while the number of morning hours is reduced. The adjusting of the clock ahead and back is done in spring and autumn respectively. The DST has an effect of cutting the number of sleeping hours during spring and adding an extra of sleeping in autumn. George Hudson invented the daylight saving mode in order to save energy use in 1895. Today, there is a daylight savings petition which aims at the daylight savings time being abolished. There are many reasons why the daylight savings time should be abolished but here are some of the reasons.
There have been an increase in the number of road deaths because of the daylight saving time. Daylight saving time deprives us one hour of sleep and this has led to more road accidents. Austin C did his own research and discovered that DST causes more road accidents. In spring, a lot of road accidents happen due to one hour of sleep being lost and this has led to more deaths. Definitely, we should end daylight saving time.
Daylight saving time causes heart attacks. Immediately after forwarding the clocks forward and losing an hour of sleep, many people experience heart attacks. Heart attacks happen after sudden blocking of the heart blood vessels. Research shows that the risk of having a heart attack after losing an hour of sleep is very high. DST should be abolished in order to reduce cases of heart attack.
DST has led to increased energy bills. Around 1970s, the daylight savings was mainly used since there was an energy crisis. We have enough sources of energy hence DST should be ended.
DST increases the power bills. Although the lighting energy bills are reduced, air conditioning bills increases. We need to support the petition to end daylight savings in order to save on air conditioning costs.
Daylight saving time disrupts traveling, record keeping, billing, and jobs. If you are working at night and the clock is advanced by an hour, you will lose one working hour.
Research shows that daylight savings cause signs similar to those of jetlag. Once the clocks are forwarded by an hour, your body clock will not be synchronous with the clocks and this results to fatigue, insomnia, and headache.
This article shows that we no longer need the daylight savings time.
